Being new to this whole homeschooling deal, I thought it might be a good idea to chronicle our journey through the first year and beyond of this new venture for us.
Many people have questioned why we decided to homeschool Zoe. There is an easy answer; because of her health issues.
But there were many reasons why we came to this conclusion. I was not happy with the public school system in our city. The administration at her school had the bedside manner of a bed bug, and did not want to deal with Zoe's issues. I was also not happy with what she was being taught, not by the teachers, but by the other students.
So many people tried to talk us out of homeschooling Zoe, saying she would end up being one of those weird withdrawn un-socialized kids that no one wants to hang out with. I have heard every excuse in the book.
But after much thought and prayer, we decided as a family that this was our best option.
We will be homeschooling Zoe under the guidance of a local charter school, which has provided us with an education specialist that will help me in regards to ordering the appropriate curriculum, and keeping tabs on how Zoe is adjusting.
I am looking forward to this new journey. I am excited.
